Patrick Hehenberger is independent
and provides his services in person.

His dual qualification is key
to the effective avoidance and resolution
of disputes in Construction and related industries :

  • He is a German Diplomingenieur of Technische Universität München
with nearly 20 years experience in the construction business.
  • He holds a Master’s degree with Merit in Construction Law & Dispute Resolution from King’s College London
with experience aquired through many appointments in national and
    international disputes.

After university and further scientific research in 1996 at Ecole Nationale
des Ponts et Chaussées, Paris, he joined one of the world’s largest contractors
in Paris.
He has later served Swiss and German tunnelling contractors, and a Swiss cement engineering consultancy operating internationally.

Mr Hehenberger has many years of experience, both in-house and on site,
in engineering, tendering, costing, construction operations, operative and
financial controlling, contracts and claims management.

His interdisciplinary and intercultural assignments include long-span bridges,
roads, special foundations, cement and hydropower plants, as well as tunnels
for rail, road, waste, sewage, energy and electrons, in Europe, Asia and Africa.
Patrick developed Germany’s first-ever BOT infrastructure, a major immersed
tube highway link.

He has served on four major tunnelling construction sites in Switzerland,
the last of which he has managed for a German contractor.

He is a Chartered Engineer through the Institution of Civil Engineers and
became its Representative in Switzerland.

Patrick has specialized in Construction Law and in the wide range of techniques that help to avoid disputes arising in the first place, or - where disputes have become apparent - to resolve them in procedures such as Mediation, Dispute Boards, Adjudication, Expert Determination, Arbitration and Litigation.

Patrick is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

He has acted as Neutral (i.e. appointed jointly by the parties or by an arbitral tribunal, or by court) as well as party-appointed advisor or expert - prior to, during and after Construction.

His approach will draw on both his technical and legal acumen, particularly in international contexts.

Patrick Hehenberger is the inaugural winner of the First Prize of the European Society of Construction Law (ESCL) for his comparative thesis UK Success To Be Remade In Germany : Will Adjudication Collide With Fundamental Civil Law Principles ?
